Onion Straws

You know those french fried onions you get in like a can from the supermarket and that are supposed to be in stur fry but we all eat plain? These are them but sooo so good.

What you need:
2 onions
2 cups of milk
2 cups of flour
like a tablespoon of salt
some black pepper
some red pepper flakes
Canola oil

What you need to do:

1) peel the onions and cut a slit into them. Slice them very very thin, if u have a slicer now is the time to break it out.

2) break the rings apart and put them into a shallow pyrex. Cover them with 2 cups of mik (you can use skim, or even buttermilk.)

3) While they soak, make the batter- Combine the flour, salt, about 1/2 teaspoon flour and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes. Just enough so you can see them when you mix the flour.

4) Heat like 3 inches of vegetable oil in a pot, pan, or a dutch oven.

5) Use tongs and shake the milk off of the onions, and then coat them in flour. In BATCHES, throw the onions into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes, until they are golden brown, and take them out with tongs or a spoon with slats.

6) Dry them on a paper towel , and eat. I was planning to save these for dinner but there pretty much gone
