I love it. It gives me something to do friday afternoons, it relaxes me, its just the best.
So heres the first of many shabat food posts. I make this like most weeks, I'm a big fan of it.
Meatballs are on the right, but the rest is coming soon!!!
What You Need:
Chopped meat (I usually use like half a pound)
An egg
Matzoh Meal
Breadcrumbs
Ketchup
Barbeque sauce
Steak sauce (A1)
Hot sauce (I like Frank's)
Salt
Pepper
Tomatoe Sauce from a can
Cinnamon
What You Need To Do:
1) Dump the chopped meat into a medium bowl.
2) Add all your ingredients- the egg, a few shakes of breadcrumbs, about 4 squeezes of ketchup, 5 squeezes of bbq sauce, about 3 squirts of A1, about 4 squirts hot sauce, and salt and pepper. Be generous with all your sauces, it can only get more flavourful
3) MIXXXXXX IT- very good. Dont be afraid to get dirty, shatras. Everyones counting on you!!
Doesnt that look delish
4) If the meatballs feel very very juicy, you can do two things- add more meat, or add more matzoh meal. If the meat isnt sticking together, I recommend matzoh meal because it helps it absorb the juice- so, more matzoh meal is okay.
5) make your balls and put them on the side
6) Put a medium pot on the stove on a low flame, and put like 3 cans of tomatoe sauce- enough that it will cover all the meatballs once you put them in the pot. Add a few sprinkles of cinnamon and salt, and bring it to a boil.
7) Once the sauce is boiling, put the fire to very low and throw in the meat balls. You want them to all be covered by sauce
8) Cover the pot with tinfoil and poke holes in it.
9) Let it cook on a low fire for about 30 minutes. Thats usually how long it takes, but if your not sure if its ready, you can take a meatball out and cut it- if its brown inside, its ready!
